About Numun Fund

Seeding and sustaining technological infrastructures for feminist activism, organisations and movements.

Numun Fund’s mission is to mobilise and redistribute diverse resources for a growing ecosystem of feminist tech activism, in order to strengthen the power of social justice movements and build technology for the world we want.

Joining the Numun Fund Team

The Fund is currently in the build and grow phase, and in the process of strengthening our forms, structures and processes. The next year is an exciting time as we move towards registration and autonomy, and grow our grantmaking work in several key intersectional areas.

The Numun Fund team currently is currently shaped as a fairly small, interrelated, committed and highly adept team who contribute to creating a collaborative work space for individual and collective accountability, creativity and impact.

The work is remote, and team members connect to working spaces online, whilst being grounded in the reality of their spaces. This means that things like time justice, the rhythms of care and differences in technology access are be folded into how we work.

As the first dedicated fund for feminist tech activism for, in and led by the Larger World, we are prioritising building a team that is led by feminists located in the Larger World. This includes territories in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, SWANA and Arab-speaking countries and the Pacific. For this role, we are especially looking for applicants located in Africa and SWANA, although all applications from the Larger World will be equally considered. Grounded in intersectional movements and politics, we also understand that speaking across distances in multiple locations is a critical part of this work, and that location and power is also often shifting and complex.

Role Summary

The Programmes Weaver is a key role responsible for the shaping and coordination of Numun Fund’s programmes. A major element of this position is leading the design, management, and implementation of Numun’s grantmaking programme, and the development of its community strengthening strategy. This is a core area of Numun Fund's mission.

The person works in partnership with co-Programme Weavers to further develop, better and manage our grantmaking systems and mechanisms, grow Numun’s relationships in the field and movements, and play a key role in the development and implementation of our Learnings, Evaluation and Assessments Framework (LEAF). The Programme Weavers also work with the Co-Cartographer (Executive Director) to imagine and define grantmaking and programmatic strategies to meet Numun’s key objectives.

The person will be the direct liason with Numun’s Community-led Selection Committee, nodes of organisers (grantee-partners), as well as the network of feminist tech activists and advisors that Numun consults and partners with in our work. The Weavers are also in close community with Feminist, Women’s, Human Rights and Technology Funds who are our peer ecosystem actors.

This role is especially exciting and creative at this phase of the fund. We are looking for someone with solid participatory grantmaking and project management experience, and good understanding of processes needed for accountability and community engagement - and who can build from this foundation to shape and implement Numun Fund's grantmaking programme to meet its mission as a feminist activist fund. We are also looking for someone who is curious and excited to build knowledge on resourcing the feminist technology and movement, and translating that into programmatic, community building and resource mobilisation strategies. We are interested to understand your activism and vision for change in this role.
