About Numun Fund

Seeding and sustaining technological infrastructures for feminist activism, organisations and movements.

Numun Fund’s mission is to mobilise and redistribute diverse resources for a growing ecosystem of feminist tech activism, in order to strengthen the power of social justice movements and build technology for the world we want.

Joining the Numun Fund Team

The Fund is currently in the build phase, and in the process of being dreamed up and made. The next 6-12 months is an exciting time as we shape and build the forms, structures, processes and culture of Numun Fund. This means that while not everything will have been worked out, you will be joining this creative energy, and your participation will be a big part of this making.

The Numun Fund team currently is imagined to be a small, interrelated, committed and highly adept team who will contribute to creating a collaborative work space for individual and collective accountability, creativity and impact.

The work is remote, and team members connect to working spaces online, whilst being grounded in the reality of their spaces. This means that things like time justice, the rhythms of care and differences in technology access will be folded into how we work.

As the first dedicated fund for feminist tech work for, in and led by the Larger World (aka Global South), we are prioritising building a team that is led by feminists located in the Larger World. This includes territories in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Middle East and Arab countries, Eastern Europe, and the Pacific. Grounded in intersectional movements and politics, we also understand that speaking across distances in multiple locations is a critical part of this work, and that location and power is also often shifting and complex.

Role Summary

The Programmes Weaver is a key role responsible for the shaping and coordination of Numun Fund’s programmes. A major element of this position is leading the design, management, and implementation of Numun’s grantmaking programme, and supporting the development of its capacity building and accompaniment strategy. This is a core area of Numun Fund's mission.

As the fund is in the build phase, the person will work closely with the Grants Working Group and the Co-founding Executive Director (Chief Cartographer) to set up the grantmaking elements and mechanisms of the Fund. The person will be the direct liaison with the Grants Working Group, the grantee-partners of Numun Fund as well as the network of feminist tech activists and advisors that Numun Fund will consult and partner with on the accompaniment and capacity building strategy.

This role is especially exciting and creative at this build phase of the fund. We are looking for someone with grantmaking and project management experience, especially participatory grantmaking, and good understanding of processes needed for accountability and community engagement. And who can build from this foundation to shape and implement Numun Fund's grantmaking programme to meet its mission as a feminist participatory fund. We are also looking for someone who is curious and excited to build knowledge on resourcing the feminist technology and movement building, and translating that into programmatic, community building and resource mobilisation strategies.
