About Numun Fund

Seeding and sustaining technological infrastructures for feminist activism, organisations and movements.

Numun Fund is a ground-breaking initiative that aims to seed, resource, and sustain a feminist technology ecosystem. It will shift power and resources to feminist and women/trans-led groups, organisations and networks who use technology to advance social justice organising and achieve gender-just outcomes.

Numun Fund was seeded in May 2020 as the first dedicated fund for feminist technology, and as a feminist technology response dedicated especially to feminist activists in and/or from the Larger World. Numun Fund draws on the breadth and depth of knowledge that already exists in social justice and feminist movements.

Numun is the Sumerian word for “seed” and honors the fact that art, music, literature, science, and technology have flourished across the world, and have been led by communities in the Larger World throughout history.

Joining the Numun Fund team

Numun Fund is the first dedicated fund for feminist tech work for, in and led by the Larger World (aka Global South). This means that we are prioritising building a team that is led by feminists located in the Larger World. Grounded in intersectional movements and politics, we also understand that speaking across distances in multiple locations is a critical part of this work, and that location and power is also often shifting and complex.

The Fund is currently in the process of being dreamed up and made. The next 6-12 months is an exciting time as we shape and build the forms, structures, processes and culture of Numun Fund. This means that you will be joining this creative energy, and not everything will have been worked out - your participation will be a big part of this making.

The work is remote, and team members connect to working spaces online, whilst being grounded in the reality of their spaces. This means that things like time justice, the rhythms of care and differences in technology access will be folded into how we work.

Role Summary

The Tech Weaver (Senior Coordinator/Lead) is primarily responsible for Numun Fund’s technological needs and realising our technology strategy. A major element of this position is to lead the team and its external contributors in creating and implementing strategies that manage the organisations' technological infrastructures effectively. This would include key functional structures such as grant management, finance and team systems, information and communications, data safety management, and accompanying policies. The role also includes working with the team to think through Numun’s strategic objectives from the lens of technology infrastructure both within the organisation, as well as with the community and movements it serves. Numun Fund is guided by the feminist principles of the internet, which includes attention to access, safety and F/LOSS.
